Want some exercise, the fun of working with others, and a good feeling from reducing waste here and helping others overseas?

Become a Bikes for the World volunteer-- help us ship "6,000 bikes in '06" to projects benefiting poor working folks overseas. Volunteers can help at collection events, help load shipments, do publicity work, or more.

Or do you simply want to keep up with our news, and distribute our collection schedule from time to time? Be a Bikes for the World SUPPORTER.

In either case, please provide the following information to receive 12-15 emails yearly regarding the activities, accomplishments, and volunteer needs of Bikes for the World. We use the list ONLY to provide collection schedules, appeals for volunteers, alerts to press coverage, and an annual report.

We are particularly in need of individuals able from time to time to accept and temporarily store bicycle donation drop-offs. (We are building a network of drop-offs including volunteer homes and bike shops to collect those bikes from donors unable to hold and bring them to scheduled collections.)

We are also looking for individuals willing to liaise with local bike shops and volunteers to regularly collect donated bikes and spare parts, and bring these items back to our storage sites in Tysons Corner VA and Waterside Mall (SW DC). A pick-up truck or van is a likely prerequisite.

Please check the "volunteer" box below if you're interested in volunteering to help with bicycle collections, loadings, etc. No prior bike experience required (although having some doesn't hurt!).
